WHAT TO STUDY?
AT High SCHOOL
It’s recommended you study maths, sciences, business, and IT skills are also important – it depends on the dairy career you want.
There are many courses from taster courses to New Zealand Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees.
Level 2, 3 or 4, Certificates in Agriculture are completed while you work and offered by Primary ITO.
Level 5 study programmes are offered by training institutions such as polytechnics.
Bachelor and Master’s degrees in an agricultural field are usually from Lincoln, Massey or Waikato Universities.

A DairyNZ scholarship is invaluable mentoring and networking opportunities, and financial support. More than $250,000 worth of undergraduate scholarships are on offer. Applications open 1 September and close 7 December (annually).
This can be on-farm on-the-job training by a colleague or manager. DairyNZ discussion groups are an example.
STUDY WHILE YOU WORK
Also known as continued education or life-long learning, take personal development courses, specialist and technical courses to learn and upskill while in employment.
