“I am passionate about working with farmers, seeing positive changes on farm and in the mind-set of farmers”

Mark grew up on a dairy farm which fuelled his enthusiasm for a career in the agricultural industry and for farming in a way that would leave the land in a better state for the future.

After completing university, Mark joined the Sustainability Team at DairyNZ. This enabled him to build skills in communicating with farmers, expand his technical knowledge, and create valuable contacts which kick-started his career.

In his current role at Waikato Regional Council, Mark works with farmers to ensure they are operating at environmental best practice and within certain requirements. He regularly engages with farmers, rural professionals and other groups to ensure industry-wide collaboration – giving him plenty of opportunities to get out of the office and onto farms!
